Enjoy an engaging talk or hike focused on the Dinwoody Petroglyphs with Spencer Pelton. This is a great opportunity to learn from an expert; Spencer is the Wyoming State Archaeologist and an Adjunct Professor of Anthropolgy at UWYO!

October 17 & 18 | Kids Corner: Corn Husk Dolls

Kids Corner: Corn Husk Dolls

Location: Dubois Museum

Join the Dubois Museum on October 17th or 18th at 10am to make your own Corn Husk Doll! During the fall harvests throughout history, corn husks were gathered and used to create simple dolls for children. Every part of the corn plant was used since corn was domesticated centuries ago. This project will encourage children to use natural materials to create a fun traditional toy.


This is one of the Bailey Tire & Pit Stop Travel Center Children’s Exploration Series. Materials will be provided. $3.00 per child. Call the Dubois Museum at 307-455-2284

Are you looking forward to Halloween, but STUMPED on how to decorate?  A simple, easy-to- make Halloween handmade craft for all ages. Spooky and whimsical craft for all skill levels. Join Jan at the Dubois Museum and paint your favorite Halloween characters on logs.  

Halloween decorations evolved from ancient Celtic practices of using carved turnips to ward off evil spirits during the Samhain festival. This practice transitioned into using pumpkins in the U.S. Later in the twentieth century began to include a variety of commercial products produced by companies like Beistle and Dennison (yes, the same Dennisons from Dubois).
