Meet at the Dennison Lodge to learn more about astronomy in general and about a lunar eclipse in particular before viewing the lunar eclipse.  Tom will also point out many of the constellations and planets that are visible with the naked eye and bring your binoculars.

Join the Dubois Museum & Wind River Historical Center for a fascinating evening of stargazing and learning! Tom Herrit, a seasoned educator who has taught Astronomy and Metrology at Utah State University, BYU, and Weber State University, will begin the evening with an introduction to the wonders of astronomy.

After the indoor session, we’ll head outside where Tom will guide us through the night sky. He’ll point out constellations, planets, and other celestial objects visible to the naked eye. Be sure to bring your binoculars for an even better view!

September 27 | Kids Corner: Cyanotype Printmaking

Kids Corner: Cyanotype Printmaking

Location: Dubois Museum

As part of the Bailey Tire & Pit Stop Travel Center Children’s Exploration Series, this Kids Corner will explore the early photography process of cyanotype, also known as Sun Prints.  The process was developed in 1842 by Sir John Herschel and is still used by artists today.  This project will emphasize children’s art and creativity, combining nature, science and art in the concepts of photography.

Enjoy an engaging talk or hike focused on the Dinwoody Petroglyphs with Spencer Pelton. This is a great opportunity to learn from an expert; Spencer is the Wyoming State Archaeologist and an Adjunct Professor of Anthropolgy at UWYO!

Kids Corner: Corn Husk Dolls

During the fall harvests throughout history, corn husks were gathered and used to create simple dolls for children. Every part of the corn plant was used since corn was domesticated centuries
ago. This project will encourage children to use natural materials to create a fun traditional toy.
